Anti-Bullying Week
Last week in school we had a very successful Anti-Bullying week. Under the leadership and guidance of Mrs Dorrian all of our pupils engaged in a series of whole school Assemblies and in class activities around the theme of “Choose Respect.” Please check our school web site for many accounts and pictures.
It is important to emphasise that Bullying was not only discussed during last week in school but is referred to all year round. We believe that all forms of bullying behaviour are unacceptable. Should any reports of bullying type behaviour be reported to you at home, please contact the school immediately so as we can investigate and work together to ensure that this unacceptable behaviour stops.
This year we have decided to convene an Anti-Bullying Ambassador team, made up of pupils from each of our classes. These pupils were elected by their peers and through this forum we are hoping to empower our pupils to take an active role in preventing and addressing bullying in our schools. Throughout the year they will meet regularly with Mrs Dorrian, be trained to recogonise bullying type behaviours, support all of our pupils and help promote a positive schooling environment. They will work alongside our teachers, and all other adults within the school, to help create awareness and provide a safe space for all of our pupils to talk about their experiences.
Our Anti Bullying Ambassadors for 2024/25 are Rhea (P1), Matilda (P2), Rebecca (P3), Tyler (P4), Caoimhe (P5), Oscar (P6), Meabh (P6), Olly (P7) and Alannah (P7) and Cooper (LSU). We wish them the best of luck in their new role and we look forward to working with them throughout this year in school.
We have also attached a copy of our new and revised draft Anti-Bullying Policy and Positive Behaviour Policy, which we, as a school, have been working on internally since the beginning of this academic school year. We wish to emphasise the level of importance we give to this area of schooling life and we ask that you take the time to read the documents. We would also ask that if you have any comments regarding any of the content of these documents that you contact Mr Gilchrist directly at pgilchrist570@c2kni.net by 12.00noon on Friday 29th November 2024. After this process the documents will be sent to our Board of Governors for final ratification.
