Anti Bullying Week 2021

10th Nov 2021

Next week in school our school will be participating in the annual Anti-Bullying week and all of our pupils will be engaging in a number of activities focusing on this year’s theme of “One Kind Word.”

There are three activities for next week that I want to draw your particular attention to.

1. Anti Bullying Poster

As a Homework task this week we will be asking each pupil from P3-7  to design an anti-bullying poster focusing on the theme of “One Kind Word,” and our P1 and P2 pupils will be colouring in an Anti Bullying poster. We encourage you as parents to help your child with this poster and while doing this discuss some of the anti-bullying messages with your child.

2. Monday 15th November 2021 Odd Sock Day

Pupils can come to school wearing odd socks on this day t help celebrate diversity.

3. Thursday 18thNovember 2021 “Your Kindness Counts” Day

On this day we will participating in the NI Hospice “Your Kindness Counts” fundraiser day to coincide with “World Kindness day.” All pupils will be encouraged to come to school dressed in colourful clothes to pass on some colourful cheer.

This day will be a fundraising day for the NI Hospice and will replace our monthly Non-Uniform day with all donations and money raised going directly to the NI Hospice.

We also have a number of surprising activities planned for this day and further details on this will be announced closer to the actual day.

In signing up to participate in Anti-Bullying week our school also signed up to the Anti-Bullying  manifesto for change. This manifesto states that;

Ask if someone’s OK. Say you’re sorry. Just say hey.

In a world that can sometimes feel like it’s filled with negativity, one kind word can provide a moment of hope. It can be a turning point. It can change someone’s perspective. It can change their day. It can change the course of a conversation and break the cycle of bullying.

Best of all, one kind word leads to another. Kindness fuels kindness. So from the playground to Parliament, and from our phones to our homes, together, our actions can fire a chain reaction that powers positivity.

It starts with one kind word. It starts today.

During this incoming week a lot of our focus and discussion will centre around this manifesto.

Stay tuned to our school website for further updates, news and pictures.
