BBC Radio Ulster from Portaferry!
During the week two of our P7 pupils represented our school at a BBC Radio Ulster recording of Gardeners’ Corner. It was lovely to be asked to take part in this special evening alongside Mrs O’Neill and Miss Green. Chloe and Caleb have both been very active members of our PSG gardening group and our Eco-Council and were able to talk about all the recent developments within our schooling community with regard to our outdoor classroom, bug hotel, rewilding areas, vegetable plots, Summer projects and our upcoming ‘Flower Bucket of Happiness’ challenge as well as our June ‘Make, Bake and Grow festival’. They also had to prepare a gardening question to put to a panel of experts. David Maxwell, the host was very impressed with their knowledge and involvement in local projects. They learned lots about the actual recording of a radio broadcast and met lots of representatives from the local community who have helped us in the past and who continue to volunteer in our area. Tune in to BBC Radio Ulster this Saturday morning to Gardeners’ Corner to hear all about our work. We hope to continue to inspire lots of people to get involved in school and in the community.
