Board of Governors Visit
Yesterday (Tuesday) the Student Council welcomed some very important visitors to our school. Representatives of the Board of Governors came for a guided tour and a special Question and Answer session afterwards. Each Governor was very impressed with their guides and how the students were able to inform them of all the initiatives currently happening in St. Mary’s.
As the visit coincided with Eco week the Governors were able to see classes taking part in outdoor lessons, outdoor play, transient art pieces created with natural materials, student volunteers carrying out a litter pick and classes out walking their daily mile. They loved seeing our ‘Adopt an Artist’ programme and were impressed with class masterpieces created in the style of famous artists such as Jackson Pollock, Claude Monet, Vincent Van Gogh, Andy Warhol and Pablo Picasso. The Governors also remarked on the smiling faces of our children and the lovely happy atmosphere in our school.
The Student Council loved finding out about what it is like to be a school Governor and the important job they have to do. The Governors in return enjoyed listening to the role our Student Council play in St. Mary’s and how much our staff value the ‘student voice’.
The Student Council now look forward to implementing some new ideas and perhaps a little Fundraising before the end of this Academic Year.
