Breathing Experiment
As part of our “We Are Amazing” topic we have looked at the digestive, respiratory and circulatory systems. The children decided to design an experiment to see how breathing rate changes during different physical activities. The class decided to work with partners to record breathing rates for one minute at rest, after walking and after running. They wanted a physical way of seeing each breath and came up with an idea to use a thin strip of tissue paper. They held this under their noses so they could see it move and vibrate with each breath exhaled. In order to maintain a Fair Test the children walked and ran for the same length of time.
