Celebrating Reading

16th Apr 2025

Well done to all our P4,5,6 and 7 children who have successfully met and surpassed some of our reading milestones.

Children received certificates today for reading 50,000, 100,000, 250,000 and 500,000 words!  Some children getting more than one certificate!

This is an indication of their dedication to reading.  As a school we have now read and passed quizzes using Accelerated Reading on 1627 books.  This is a combined word count of 12,063,483 and our pass average on quizzes is 86%.  This is a tremendous achievement so far and all our active readers should be extremely proud of themselves.

Reading is vital in the development of children's academic ability and is a skill that is needed in every area of the curriculum.

Please ensure your child does some reading every night and we will continue to provide children with reading opportunities in school.

Well done boys and girls, let’s see the same commitment to your reading for one final big push in term 3.  We have several children who could become word millionaires, let's make this happen!!

Well done to everyone today and over the last two terms, keep it up!
