Constructing 3D Shapes In P5
Primary Five have been very busy learning about the names and properties of 3D shapes. They were able to identify the names, edges and vertices of some very tricky 3D shapes.
To help consolidate our knowledge of 3D shapes the children constructed their own models with cocktail sticks and marshmallows. We soon realised that you need a very strong base to ensure that the shape stays upright.
The children enjoyed presenting and talking about their models to some of the other classes in the school. Some new tasks have been assigned on Mathletics for 3D shapes. Mr Smyth was very impressed for some of the more complex models such as a hexagonal prism. Lots of practical learning in Primary Five!
