Today we welcomed two special visitors to Nursery! Firefighters Gray and McCarthy came to speak to us about their jobs. They showed us the fire engine and the places for all the special equipment. Some of us tried on their special helmets. They were really heavy! If we wanted to, we were able to climb up inside the fire engine. It was very high up, but the boys and girls loved this! After this, the firefighters set the boys and girls a challenge. Could they use the water from the hose to knock a basket over? All the children who had a go, successfully completed this challenge! When they were finished, Mrs Birt just had to give it a go too! The firefighters were impressed with the knowledge that the children had. They got quite a few hands raised, when they asked if any of them would like to be a firefighter when they are older. We saw the lights on the fire engine and when they were leaving they put on the siren for us to hear. It was really loud! We really enjoyed our visit. We gave the men a little token of our appreciation to thank them for taking time out of their busy schedule to come and see us today.
