Landmarks in N. Ireland
As part of our WAU topic, "The World Around Me" we will start by exploring our own locality. The children will research locations and features of Northern Ireland, as well as their immediate locality here in Portaferry. For a bit of fun we decided to use our interactive display to see how well the children know Northern Ireland before we start learning about many of the places. There were 20 points up for grabs to locate Portaferry, Belfast, the six counties and then match a description and photograph with the correct point on the map for; The Giant's Causeway, Marble Arch Caves, Slemish Mountain, The Mourne Mountains, River Lagan and Lough Neagh. The children thoroughly enjoyed this activity and hope to learn a lot more in the coming weeks!
