Marvellous Minibeasts in Nursery
We have been finding out lots of information about minibeasts in Nursery. We started with a caterpillar and found out how it turns in to a butterfly. We were able to tell Mr Gilchrist the complete life cycle. He was very impressed with the big words we used! We made our own colourful caterpillars and beautiful butterflies for our classroom. We also painted bees and ladybirds. We looked closely at pictures of the insects before we did our own. Mrs Birt brought in a very special Ladybird house for us to see them up close. We loved watching them move, climb and fly. We tried to count how many there were but they moved really quickly! We had minibeast cutters at the playdough table. We also had minibeast stampers at the art table and made great pictures with these. One of our favourite stories is The Very Hungry Caterpillar. We have read it lots of times. We decided to make our very own caterpillar. We all painted different sections and then put it all together. Look at the photo of our Minibeast display to see how long it was! We went on a minibeast Hunt. We had clipboards, magnifying glasses, binoculars and a list of minibeasts to find! There was great detective work on show!
