Maths week in P6 ➖✖️➕➗
P6 have had a busy week participating in lots of active maths activities.
We had a practical maths session using Rubik’s cubes to aid our problem solving skills and maths board games focusing on ➕➖✖️➗
As we are learning about place value up to one million we made a human number line, equipped with our ever trusty decimal point (who did not move!). We explored x10, x100 and x1000 and how this would affect the digits and their Place Value. To aid our understanding we wore head bands with the family we belonged to starting from the smallest … th h t . U H T Th Tth 100Th M
We quickly learned that when we multiplied by 10, 100, 1000 not only did our position in the place value line change, but we also had to change our head band as the PV family we belonged to had also changed.
Lots of active learning and problem solving…
Well done P6!
