National Numeracy Day⏰📚🌟

20th May 2024

It is ‘National Numeracy Day’ this Wednesday 22nd May and we would love it if each family would have a look at the www.nationalnumeracy.org.uk website to help us highlight the importance of Maths at home and in school. There is a free ‘Family Maths Toolkit’ which can be downloaded, should families wish to examine it as well as lots of advice and guidance on supporting your child with Numeracy, boosting Maths confidence, managing money and looking at the importance of essential skills in the ‘real world’. There are also lots of videos featuring many celebrity ‘Maths Ambassadors’ sharing number songs, number dance routines, ideas for maths when baking as well as data handling activities for younger and older learners for indoor and outdoor learning.

As a school we have so many support systems available to parents. Check out our school website ‘Home Learning/Links’ section for lots of ideas on how to challenge and help your child with Maths. Maybe log on to Mathletics with your child a little more this week. Did you know that you can download and print out Mathletics workbooks for every year group's Maths topics at home when you log into your child’s Mathletics account? Enjoy looking through all the topic books as your child comes to the end of his/her current class and prepares to transition to the next year group. There are fantastic booklets for term time revision and ones which can be used for summer learning to help prevent 'the summer slide'.

May is the month in which we celebrate our 'Maths Pupils of the Week'! We look forward to seeing some brillant achievements with written or practical Maths and even more silver, gold, platinum, emerald, diamond, epic and legend Mathletics certificates over the next few days and weeks ahead.
