P3 are On the Move 🚗🚓🚚🚲🚍🚝🛫🚀⛵️🛳️
18th Apr 2024
P3 have had a very busy start to Term 3. Our new topic is ‘On the move’ and is all about different types of transport. We have looked at land, sea and air transport and focused this week on cars. We have investigated ramps and how the steepness of a slope will affect how far and fast a toy car will travel. We know that the force of gravity makes the car roll down the slope. We measured the distance travelled using string and meter sticks. We have designed and constructed 3D models of vehicles and designed our very own personalized number plates! We hope we might have one of these in years to come, when we drive our own cars!
We have experienced a lot of cross curricular learning through this topic, as well as looking at the structure of fairytales, especially Rapunzel, for our narrative writing.
We are working hard everyday learning lots of strategies to solve addition and subtraction problems, looking at halves of shapes, and measuring and estimating, all as part of our preparation for our very first computerized assessment in a few weeks.
