P3 Safety Internet Day 2020
Today we started Safety Internet Day by going to the ICT room. We not only had to reset our passwords but each child also started to create their very first PowerPoint presentation using photographs we had taken last week. After break we discussed the different ways that the children use the Internet. Some of these included Roblox, Fortnite, Fifa and Minecraft. We discussed how to stay safe when playing these games. Having read a story about DigiDuck, we were able to talk about how people can pretend to be someone else online and that we should only connect with people if we are very sure who they are and should always check with parents first. We talked about what to do if someone we don't know sends a message or asks for personal details. The activity that the children completed was called This is Me. They created an avatar or profile picture and drew images of things which represent themselves and who they are, hobbies and interests, family, friends, games they play, where they live etc. We discussed which of these things were safe to share online and which were personal details. The children put a green dot beside those which were safe and a red dot beside those that were not. Lots of great discussion today on how to stay safe online.
