P4 learning and loving school!
For their Procedural Writing this week, Primary Four looked at recipes. They made their very own healthy and delicious homemade vegetable soup and then discussed how important it was to follow the instructions in the correct order.
This week for their spellings they concentrated on the ur, ir, er, ar and or sounds which are all so similar. They also completed scaffolded text work called ‘Worms’ World’ and found over thirty of their spelling words.
For WAU they examined a range of old and modern photographs of lifeboats through the years for their topic ‘Rescue at Sea’.
Their ‘Grow in Love’ theme was Baptism and they watched a lovely video about baby Rory’s baptism and took a trip over to the chapel to see the baptismal font and the holy oils.
It was a big week for ‘Mathletics’ as the boys and girls refamiliarised themselves with the program at home and in school. They loved accessing the 'Explore' and 'Play' sections of Mathletics on the interactive whiteboard, in the computer suite and at home. They also enjoyed lots of Mental Maths workouts and Problem Solving on the large hundred square and using their new textbooks.
Big congratulations to Meabh and Ethan who were voted onto the Eco-Council for P4. Good luck everyone with the big School Council speeches and vote tomorrow.
