P4 September Review🌟🏆

30th Sep 2024

P4 worked so hard on a range of subjects in their new classroom and at home with their parents as they got used to a new style of homework. They also experienced lots of outdoor learning too.

They enjoyed becoming ‘Book Detectives’ as they read, discussed and predicted what was going to happen in a range of fact and fictional books. They particularly enjoyed the Marvel Heroes series during ‘Reading for Enjoyment Time’ and linked these heroes to real life lifeboat crew heroes in their WAU topic. Comprehension work was mainly based on whole class work on ‘The Lighthouse Keeper’s Lunch’ book. During phonics lessons, it was all about investigating multiple ways of spelling the same sound; a tricky concept for P4 but Mrs O’Neill and Mary are delighted with the progress.

During Numeracy, the focus has been on Problem Solving; using the RUCSAC strategy, really reading and figuring out the worded instructions as well as recording thinking in an organised way. Lots of resources were used including dice for investigations as well as Mathletics and textbook work for consolidation. Well done to all those accessing Mathletics at home!

Congratulations to Rosa and Lucas who were voted on to the School Council as well as Conall and Lucie who were voted on to the Eco-Council to represent P4.

The Daily Mile has proved a popular activity during ‘High Five Fridays’ and the class enjoyed stopping by the grotto and chapel enroute to choir each Wednesday. P4 have also been encouraged to attend mass as often as possible. ‘Liturgy of the Word’ forms have been distributed in packs.

P4 are now working extremely hard on their Grow in Love ‘Friendship’ theme for their parental assembly. All P4 parents are invited to attend on Friday 11th October at 1.15pm.
