P4 Sports Superstars⚽️🌟
What a busy week in P4! The highlight was a visit from Heather, a sports coach who read the class a short story called ‘Do Goalkeepers Wear Tiaras?’ which the children loved. Afterwards everyone enjoyed a lesson in the gym where they worked on their throwing, catching, target work, ball control, dribbling and teamwork skills. The class look forward to having this type of PE lesson every Tuesday.
There was a lot of healthy competition with Mathletics this week too! Mathletics is so beneficial when revising topics at this time of the year. The P4 children can explore ‘Live Maths’ levels 2-3, ‘Rainforest Maths’ and complete their tasks at home too which really helps develop their logic, comprehension and problem solving skills. Numeracy work continued in class with lots of practical and textbook work based on coins, cash, totals and change.
For Literacy, phonics focused on the ‘g’, ‘gg’ and ‘gh’ sounds. Written work was based on long vowel sounds, adding ‘magic e’ and homophones as well as revising punctuation basics in preparation for end of year assessments. Mrs O’Neill was delighted to present so many handwriting certificates in class this week.
During ‘Grow in Love’ the children examined bible stories from the classroom bible and on the interactive whiteboard. Such busy bees in P4! Keep up the fantastic work at home and in school. 🏆
