Practical Compass Point and Angle Work
On Monday, Primary Five enjoyed a nice outdoor Numeracy lesson. We used cones to represent the eight points of the compass. To begin with, each pupil was provided with a direction that they had to locate correctly. Secondly, the pupils were provided with a particular point on the compass. They were then given an angle and direction. Using their directional and Mental Maths skills, they were tasked with working out their end location. To end the lesson, the pupils challenged each other with their own compass point and angle questions. The children thoroughly enjoyed the practical lesson and it enabled the children to apply and consolidate their prior knowledge of compass points and angles. We are looking forward to further outdoor cross curricular lessons during Term 3. Hopefully the weather will improve and we will have some nice sunshine 🌞.
