Practical Maths in LSU 2
27th Nov 2024
Practical learning brings many benefits as it improves memory, skill development, problem solving, motivation and engagement. Where possible in our classroom we engage in practical learning.
This week our topic of Egyptians has allowed us to connect our learning about 3D shapes. The boys have enjoyed making pyramid nets and used different materials to build 3D shapes. Cooper worked very hard to solve a puzzle about building pyramids with different layers.
We have also been learning about capacity and volume using the water tray. Mrs McDermott was very impressed with the estimations given before measuring, using prior knowledge gained about the capacity of some containers.
