Space Week - Day 4
We have another birthday today. This time it is the turn of Emily (P5) who turns 9. She tells me she would have loved to have been in school today to have everybody sing her "Happy Birthday." Sorry Emily we could not make that happen but we are doing the next best thing and we all hope you are having a great day.
Today was another busy day of learning throughout our St. Mary’s school community. Thank you once again to everyone who has sent in photos so far. If you have any more photos of ‘Space week’, make sure you send them on to kgreen727@c2kni.net for our final day tomorrow.
First up we have Belle (P1). Belle has been very busy this week! Her Mummy tells me that she has really enjoyed this week’s theme and doesn’t want it to end! This week she has made a galaxy jar, moon sand with a homemade rocket, galaxy slime and a moon surface with ice and rocks. In her experiment she tried using a fork, salt and eventually hot water to melt the ice to get the asteroids out and see the craters they left in the surface. Belle wrote her own space sentences and even became an astronaut for the evening with her own suit and helmet. Well done Belle! It looks like you have had a fantastic week!
Adam (P4) and his sister Lucy (P1) has also been busy this week learning all about space too. Adam produced this fantastic painting of the planets and Lucy created her very own space rocket! Oscar (P1) has also made his own rocket. He has been learning all about the planets and has made a space wreath with his big sister! Ava (P3) has been busy making a rocket with her Mum too, she tells me that Ava hopes it will go to the galaxy and the moon! Well done everyone! What fantastic pictures.
Also, this morning we received a very mysterious picture. Apparently in July 2018, there were reports of aliens in Portaferry! Could it have been Lucy (P6) who was heading home after taking part in the Gala float parade? We will never know for sure.
Patricia (P7) has been learning all about the planets in our solar system. She sent in a picture of an information poster that she made, along with a photo of her working, if you look closely, you may be able to spot a picture of our P7s in her photo. Patricia also sent us a picture of her visit to the school today where she tied a ribbon to the school gates. Chloe and Ethan (P7) have also spent a lot of time learning about the planets. Today they had a special space themed movie day to celebrate receiving their ‘big school’ acceptance letters. Congratulations to all our P7s who received their letter today. We hope that it is the start of a very exciting new chapter. We are all very proud of you!
Finally Cain (P3) was busy making his rocket this week. He has also been busy making a "Pirate Most Wanted" poster. He's not so sure if anyone can find the most wanted pirate - he thinks it might have been sent into outer space on one of the many space rockets that have been created this week around Portaferry!
Again, don't forget to send your pictures tomorrow to kgreen727@c2kni.net for the final day of "Space Week."
