St. Brigid’s Day in Nursery
Our day began with an exciting discovery! Mrs Birt found a very special rock on her way in to Nursery. The boys and girls looked very closely at it and thought it was so pretty. We listened to a story about St. Brigid and loved hearing about her special cloak. We heard a lovely song about how Brigid brings the spring. We got to colour in pictures of Saint Brigid. We had a very special visitor to nursery today. Joe’s granny Mary came to show us how to make St. Brigid’s crosses. We were able to watch her. We got to feel the rushes and see some finished crosses that Fr McGrady will bless in the chapel tonight. Mr Gilchrist decided to follow Mary’s instructions to make one too. He was very pleased with the end result. Mary very kindly gave us a cross to keep in our classroom. We had a lovely day learning all about this special saint. Thank you to Portaferry Rocks and Mary for making it even more special for the boys and girls.
