Trip to the Transport Museum
Primary 3 went to the Transport Museum at Cultra on Tuesday 1st May. The first room we went into was the train room. There were lots of old trains and we had fun climbing inside the carriages and the cabs where the driver would have stood. Some of the trains were shiny and lots of them were steam trains. We enjoyed looking for clues and reading them with a magnifying glass. We also had the challenge of finding things in the room using a photograph. As we went along we had to spot Barclay the Bear.
The next room had lots of things about ships, including the Titanic. We saw the Captain's hat and a life-jacket. It had been called the practically unsinkable ship and we saw how many people survived and how many died when it sank.
Then we went down into the buses and trams room. We saw an old ice-cream van and old fire engines.
When we had finished there we went down again into the car section. We found the old car called the Tin Lizzie which was the Ford Model T. It was very different from our cars, it had no doors! We were very excited to find a DeLorean car from Back to the Future.
At last we were able to have our lunch, we were very hungry!
Later on we went to a different building where we saw the Penny Farthing bike and a car made for a very small man. There was a part of an aeroplane and we were allowed to go into it and put on the seatbelts.
Finally we got on the bus to take us home. We were happy but tired!
