Tuesday 9th June 2020 - Book Balance and Bat and Ball Challenge - Part 2
Bella (Nursery) and Charlotte (P6) had another great day enjoying the challenges. They had to improvise for a bat but their trusty frying pan did the job. Bella needed a little help as it was a bit heavy for her little hands but she managed 5 bounces and Charlotte managed 7 bounces as she couldn't stop laughing. In the book balance Charlotte managed a lap with the book on her head course as she took another fit of the giggles. Bella managed a half a lap but then she wanted to read the book and so her big sister sat her down to read the story.
Olivia (Nursery) and Sophia (P4) really enjoying these challenges as did Lily (P5) and Feidhelm (p3) as their challenges turned into a competition. Grace (P4) managed 1 minute 22 and nearly twice round her obstacle course before the book fell. However, in the bat and ball challenge they had to give up after 15 as their dog Mylie kept jumping up to take the ball!!!! Ben (P6) also really enjoyed the book balance challenge and he too sat up after completing the challenge and read his book.
Daithi (P5) and Callie (Nursery) found these challenges very fun. Daithi completed 3 laps balancing the book on his head and Callie completed maybe half a lap as she also took a fit of laughing as she went. In the bat and ball challenge Daithi achieved a score of 90 and was delighted that he beat Mrs Birt. Well done Daithi, our highest score so far with a tennis racket. Callie achieved a score of 3. Sean (P3) and Leo (Nursery) were very excited by today's challenge Seán got 61 taps, Leo got 10 but the book balancing was more challenging with both boys only managing 1 lap of their course. Donal (P6) managed to balance the book for 57 seconds and really enjoyed the bat and ball challenge. Darragh (P2) balanced the book for 3 and a half laps in 72 seconds and in the second of today's challenges he tried it first with the Hurley Stick but found it much harder so we settled for a Pan and tennis ball and managed 11 bounces in 9.55. Leah (Nursery) used a small frying and got 7 bounces of the ball. However, she found the balancing book challenge very tricky and had a few book changes to get the best one. In the end she managed 8 steps.
Ethan(P7) and Chloe (P7) had to do their tasks inside today as it started to rain. They set up an obstacle course through the living room. Ethan managed 42 seconds of balancing the book on his head but Chloe had to stop at 3 minutes, otherwise her mum said that she probably would've kept going! Well done Chloe our highest score so far. Ethan and Chloe used a hurl for the 3rd challenge. Chloe managed 54 in 30 seconds but Ethan managed an impressive 93 in 30 secs. Well done Ethan our best total so far using a hurl instead of a tennis racket.
Ethan (P1) had lots of fun and laughter doing these challenges. His mum said that the book ended up on the grass more times than on Ethan's head 😂. When doing the bat and ball challenge he managed 3.
Great work so far folks. The last update for tonight will be posted around 8.00pm.
