Tuesday's Great Growers and Gardeners!
Thank you to all our 'Great Growers and Gardeners' who are enjoying the wonderful sunshine and outdoor life at the moment. Lily-May (P5) and her baby sister Isla-Rose have been busy tending to and measuring their sunflower plants. They are looking forward to seeing how tall they will grow. Brilliant girls! Lochlan (P4) planted some cress seeds recently and was amazed at how quickly they grew. They will be a lovely accompaniment to a salad or sandwich. Today he planted some more carrot seeds. Great gardening Lochlan! Since the beginning of lockdown, Bradan (P6) and his sister Aoibhe (P5) have been very busy planting and watering seeds for tomatoes, potatoes, sunflowers, pansies, peas and herbs. They just love their new hobby and they are learning lots of new skills along the way. Terrific gardeners! Belle (P1) has been busy helping her Dad to weed the garden. She has also been helping to deliver sunflower seeds from 'Portaferry in Bloom' to her school friends Oscar, Oisin and Michael. We know that Belle's granny Geraldine and all the 'Portaferry in Bloom' gardeners will be delighted to see so many young gardeners from Saint Mary's Primary at the moment. Mrs Mullan has also been in contact today to say that she has been gardening too and has been planting up new flowers and shrubs in plant boxes for her patio. Superb! Darragh (P2), John (P1) and Ava (Nursery) sent in a beautiful photograph of their May Altar complete with lovely flowers from their garden. They are enjoying lots of time outside taking care of their chickens too. We are so pleased to see that everyone is so happy and well and enjoying the beauty of nature and Springtime. Keep sending your 'Grow' photographs to aoneill392@c2kni.net
