Wellbeing Wednesday - 13th January 2021
Each Wednesday, during this period of school closures we will be putting up some thoughts, ideas and suggestions on how you may wish, as a family, to get involved in “Wellbeing Wednesday” at home. This month of January our theme is “Gratitude and Mindfulness.”
Today I have attached two posters for your attention. The first poster "How to Practise Gratitude" lists a number of ideas for you to do that will remind us of our true blessings, and it can also help our children be more physically, psychologically and socially healthy. Print the poster and place it within your house so that everyone can see, like a fridge door. Choose one activity a week to practise gratitude together.
Our second poster asks pupils to give thanks for all they are grateful for. Evidence has shown that practising gratitude helps children improve their mood and supports them in being kinder and more helpful. This colourful worksheet is a great start to practising gratitude.
I would also encourage you to visit https://www.youtube.com/watch?app=desktop&v=O29e4rRMrV4 for a special relaxation exercise that you can do with your children. In this Rainbow Breath video you are encouraged to learn to raise your energy and better face your day. Have fun together with it.
Overall, all we ask is for you to be open to the ideas expressed and maybe pick one theme, line or quotation and try to incorporate in into your home.
Finally in our school packs, which we will be distributing next Monday in school you wil find a special gift from our Parent Support Group in the form of a Gratitude journal. More details on how to use this will be given next week.
Take care
