World Maths Day in Nursery
We had lots of different mathematical activities on the go today to celebrate World Maths Day! In our water tray we had Number Ducks. We had to use nets to get them out of the water and see if we knew what number was on the duck. If we got stuck we could count the spots on its back. We also had some Counting Cows to match up. The cows had all got separated and we had to put them back together. We had some wooden blocks and we made great things from them. There were houses and even big hotels being made! We had some Number Pops to match up too. On the mat we had the waffle shapes out. We love making things with these and had some fantastic creations today. They were even bigger than us! When we went outside we had the Compare Bears out. We were able to find the big and small Bears in the right colour for each pattern. We also did some shape sorting. Some of us sorted by colour and others sorted by shape or object. At mat time we sang some counting songs and finished with our new favourite one that teaches us the days of the week. Lots of little mathematical superstars in Nursery!
