World Maths Day in Nursery
26th Mar 2025
We have had lots of different maths activities on the go in Nursery. Our shape this month is the rectangle. We have been making print pictures with this shape. We also went on a shape hunt today to see how many different rectangles we could find around nursery. One of our other activities was to see how tall all the boys and girls are. We measured them with some wool. All their heights are on display in our outdoor area. Our water tray has been of great use for maths. Riley spotted that it was a rectangle! We had different bottles and funnels in the water and the boys and girls enjoyed filling these up and seeing which one had more or less in it. We put our Number Ducks into the water. The children had to fish these out and say what number was on the bottom. If they weren’t sure they could count the dots on its back to help them. There were great creations being made with Wedgits. We had towers of different heights and even a Diamond Tree! We also had shape pictures being created by finding the correct shape for each section. Our builders were hard at work making houses with our rectangular bricks. There was also great measurement happening with the measuring tape. The boys and girls were all given special certificates today as they have taken part in lots of different maths activities!
