World Maths Day in P1

26th Mar 2025
Today we took advantage of the beautiful weather to enjoy some outdoor learning for World Maths Day. The learning and language development that took place was a joy to behold. We had children drawing out their own hopscotch grids, playing noughts and crosses (with score keepers), drawing rainbows using semi circles that had to get smaller each time Lots of the children enjoyed drawing caterpillars using circles and talking about how many circles they had used, which caterpillar was longer etc. We measured some of the enormous caterpillars and slugs using our bodies and our feet. Then, after some children foraged for good sticks, we also created caterpillars and butterflies using pipe cleaners, with lots more measurement and shape language used. The lego helped with problem solving and shape and space learning. The list goes on...We had so much fun out in the sun and they truly deserved their certificates for completing World Maths Day activities.
